not afraid.

goes out to all those who are on the same road.

i’m not afraid
to take a stand
everybody
come take my hand
we walk this world together
through the storm
whatever weather
cold or warm
jut lettin you know that
you’re not alone
holla if you feel like
you’ve been down the same road

—————————————————————————————————————————————-

face it and say, like the movie, “bring it on

and let us “just do it

cos “nothing is impossible

one thing, just know that “you’ll never walk alone

and it’s “probably the best beer in the world” (huh??)

sprained.

i’ve got a bad luck today. during training this morning, i sprained my ankle while playing a match. i was going for a rebound, but i did not land safely. i landed on somebody’s shoe, at least my left foot did. and it was like a slow motion movie, i could feel every single moment and the loud ‘crack’ sound is still very clear on my ear. i fell to the surface of the court, shouting as i felt the pain. people came quickly to my assistance and helped me to get out of the court, ice my ankle and even bought me a drink. thanks guys.

but i did get a good advice today for my sprained ankle. whenever it happens, you gotta ‘RICE’ it.

R – rest : after a while, your ankle will swell, this is from the blood deposit in the sprained tissue. it’s gonna be tough to even walk. so yeah, gotta rest it.

I – ice : you also gotta ice the swollen ankle area. this speeds your recovery. ice every few hours in the first 24 hours.

C – compress : compress the swollen area to prevent the blood deposit to harden.

E – elevate : gotta elevate your swollen ankle while you are lying down. to prevent the blood flow from staying in the sprained tissue. you can do this by placing your foot on a pillow while lying on a bed.

cos of this i am grounded on my bed. damn. been listening to the beatles’ songs all day. wanna dedicate this one to amelia.

” i want her everywhere

and if she’s beside me i know i need never care

but to love her is to need her everywhere

knowing that love is to share

each one believing that love never dies

watching her eyes and hoping i’m always there”

what’s that?

if you could guess what this is in your first try, you’re good.

well, as you can read, it’s an animal pasta measure. but, knowing that, you might still not know how it works. basically, it would only work with spaghetti and fettuccine, you grab some of them and measure the amount needed by fitting the pasta into the hole based on the number of people eating, either 1, 2, or 3. yeah, something like that.

for me, at first i thought it was a p-measure. as in, p-size 1, p-size 2, or p-size 3. haha.

this animal pasta measure could be found at daiso. man, that store was confusing for me, it has lots of small things, too colourful and the hallway was to small for that kind of crowd. but, it was very entertaining to go there, just to read the broken english instructions for the products. it’s a kind of wholesale translation using google-translator or some sort. the result, it’s a language i’ve never seen before. i could read a paragraph without even getting a slight idea what the item does. yeah, it’s that bad.

i’ve got another picture, this is the result of my wretched mind. it’s one of the exhibit at the science centre that could freeze the shape of your hand. while my friends make a love sign, a peace sign, or a fist. i showed a middle finger.

haha. ciao. i’m having dinner at thaipan today. yum.

body worlds.

firstly, today is the first day i got to wear my brand new spectacles. and everybody says i look better wearing this one. yeah.

so, vjc being vjc has always let their students to slack. and for this orientation period, the school has relieved us from lessons and instead made us go for relaxing activities to fill the time.

i went to the ‘body world’ exhibit today at science centre with many of my classmates. which was somewhere in between fun and boring.

gunther von hagens' body world

the gist is that we get to see human body parts which has been preserved by the process called ‘plastination’ which makes them rock solid. and many of the bodies are skinless to show the muscles. they are in different poses too, and there was one posing as a basketball player. yeah. the best sport gets its recognition. haha.

the basketball player

the main thing that we observed, however, from the many bodies are the genitals. comparing the size of one to another. this was unexpectedly fun. there was this bady which had the penis cut in half. i imagine the guy who was told to cut that penis, he must’ve also felt it in his pants. haha.

there was some animals as well. there was a gigantic horse with a gigantic penis as well. and towards the end of the exhibit, there was a giraffe. it was tall. and the size of its penis was no comparison even to the horse’s.

crashed the orientation for a while after i got back to school. and helped the new guys to complete their appeal forms. by tomorrow they would already be able to join the orientation at vjc i guess.

my leg is hurting again after training. sigh. and i will sleep after i watch one series tonight.

posting.

27 jan 2010. the release of this year’s joint admission exercise (JAE) posting results. a day that will change your life, for better or worse, but certainly always in an unexpected way. this year results shows that the benchmark has followed last year’s ‘inflation’ in required scores for jc admission. which means bad news for many.

what i mean by inflation is that the required scores to get into jcs have ‘decreased’. (i realize this sentence maybe confusing for those not familiar to singapore’s education system). so these are the ranges of scores, based on raw L1R5 scores.

  • 6 points – raffles & hwachong institution (with A1 for both english and cca)
  • 6 points – victoria junior college
  • 7-8 points – temasek junior college & anderson junior college
  • 9-10 points – anglo-chinese junior college & saint andrews junior college
  • 11-20 points – nanyang, innova, catholic junior college

well, at least these are the rough scores i estimated. there may be cases that does not follow this list and i’m also sorry if i don’t include your school (i’m just unsure, don’t wanna make more misleading arguments in an already sensitive topic).

what i can say is that for those who did not get the school of your choice, don’t fret. life often take unexpected courses, which may end up being the best for you. it certainly did for me. i remember a speech given by vjc’s principal when i just came into the school, ” i know vjc may not be the first choice for some of you, but you wait for some time, and you won’t want to leave even if we tell you to”. and it is true. i wouldn’t trade vjc for any other school in singapore. this school really ‘suits me like a suit’ (according to barney! haha).

well. good luck for the j1s in your new schools. you’ll enjoy it.

wordpress on iphone.

woah. i’m actually blogging on my phone. a good way of channeling my attention in the boring gp class. sleeping is no longer an option since the teacher keeps staring at me. a disadvantage of being the tallest in class.

meishan had just sabotaged me. my classmates are very familiar with my ringtone since my phone keeps ringing in class. and meishan exploited it. she sent me a sms while i was writing this. and my phone rang. as usual, the whole class laughed when they hear my phone rings and see me keeping a straight face so that the teacher does not know it’s me.

denise also tried to do the same trick. but i was a step ahead this time. i’ve turned my phone to silent mode, which is very easy on iphone. just a flick on the top left side of the phone.

amelia has e-learning day today. so, she had no school. jealous. but, from what i heard, vjc’s e-learning day spans for 3 days, from tuesday till thursday. nice. consequently, friday would be a skipping school day.

tuesday is the worst day of the week. i have 11 periods of lessons with only a break in between. the periods and breaks are 35 minutes long. crazy shit. most of my brain cells are pretty much dead by this time of the day.

hmm. that would do it for a first post on my phone. ciao.

injury.

yeah, i know it has been 8 days since my last post. so, why don’t we start with a poll.

actually, maybe the fact that i am laying on my bed nursing my hurting groin is the reason why  i can create this post. but, screw my leg. it just keeps hurting at different places every training, one day it could be my ankle, then my shin, then my knee, then my groin. crap. i just hope i could be in my perfect state during the competition.

it’s roughly just another one and a half month before competition starts. one thing for certain, we aren’t ready. but i hope we will be. and i know we could. the toughest opponent we have now is not hwa chong, or raffles, or any other team. but it’s ourselves and our complacency. it’s so common now to hear my teammates talking down about the other teams. i hope they know that this attitude and mindset might just be the thing that would bring us down.

i skipped school today. well, my fridays are not that heavy anyway. there wouldn’t be many school days in the following weeks as well, as the orientation and other thing kicks in. which is a good thing. i can relax once again. but i don’t think the the would-be-j1s would share the same feelings. they would keep wondering which school they would be posted to. haha. enjoy it.

on another note. i am amazed at those people who manages a vlog (video blog). you can just checkout youtube and you can find dozens of those videos. they are really good speaker, although many times the things they say are pointless and simply crap. but it’s also quite entertaining. i personally like this one. enjoy.

julian got a desktop.

no training today. quite a relief.

went out to watch a movie first. we watched the chipmunks 2. for my case, i argued against it, but only mildly. however, for the sake of the majority, i gave in. and i was proven correct. the movie was a strong challenger for the worst movie i’ve ever seen.

had lunch at ‘the soup spoon’. still felt something amiss when eating without rice or noodle. furthermore, there was too few meat in the soup for my standard.

so, for the higlight of the day, julian bought a desktop.

shit man. i was half jealous half excited. the desktop was so nice i also wanted one. but i know i could play with it when i come over to julian’s place anyway, so the excitement. and it cost the same as my laptop when i first bought it. hmm. i would certainly get a desktop when i settle down after A’s. but where would i be? that’s a good question.

but i can’t try the desktop out today though. got a friendly tomorrow. so i can’t stay over. quite excited bout the friendly, wanna repent for the bad performance i gave at the last one. but it will be tough, we’ve got some good players missing.

i’ll sleep early then.

ciao.

x-ray.

two weeks ago i went to get my leg x-rayed, as suggested by my doctor, to check whether there is any injury. i was feeling sharp pain on my shin during trainings. however, after a few days break on christmas, it felt much better. and sure, when the x-ray results came out, it was perfectly fine.

i was amazed though. when i went to the clinic to get my x-ray results, i was expecting big letter folder containing the x-ray films. but no. i only received a small letter with a ‘cd’ inside of it. as soon as i got home, i placed the cd into my laptop and saw the x-ray pictures of my legs. shows how technology could save resources.

here are some of the pictures:

hope it stays like this.

tiger woods.

pic of the day.

tiger woods

i’m sad that such a great sportsman is in such trouble. everybody should look at themselves in the mirror and take care about their own faults before judging other people’s problem like they are some moral god. anyway, i don’t think many people really cared that much. it’s just the media exaggerating and dramatising the problem.

go tiger.

by the way. i like this new theme better. don’t you?
